Sheena Connell

Sheena started playing ultimate in 2003 for the University of North Texas co-ed team, after an injury ended her NCAA track & cross county career.  In 2004, Sheena founded, captained and coached the UNT women's team, while playing for various South Region-based teams and teaching ultimate to at risk high school students through the UNT Upward Bound Program.  Sheena has volunteered as the UPA South Women's College Regional Coordinator for the last 4 years, run fun local tournaments and a small new women's team tournament, and is in her first year of being a UPA Certified Coach.  Sheena's ultimate goal is to create more diversity within ultimate, with a special interest in minority women.  While not playing ultimate with locals or playing with her club team Hayride, she is working with International Students at the UNT International Welcome Center, tutoring students in math, and eating Indian food.   She is especially proud of her dad, Rich Connell whose team placed 4th in Grand Masters Club Championships this year and her little cousin, Ryan Calver who is starting his second year playing for the University of British Columbia.
